Giving Thanks
Hello from the other side!
And happy holidays to those that celebrate Thanksgiving. Growing up, this was a time of reflection, of taking a moment to express gratitude to those around you for all the good that they contribute, both seen and unseen, to the world. This is my note of thanks to you, dear reader.
To take a minute to explain a bit about myself, for a time I felt very lost and confused, unsure of where my life was going until I decided to sit down and put together a game I could be proud of. At the time of writing, I know that there are few that have played and enjoy my work, which fills my heart with such warmth and joy that I couldn't express into words, and I wish to tell you all, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me regain direction again. You may not know it when you clicked "download", but you've helped reinvigorate an otherwise lost soul.
I'm sure that you're wanting to know how progress goes, though, so let's move swiftly on. I set out to provide smaller updates to Cognitus in the form of a Game Masters screen and a tool to help new players build Personas. I liken building a Persona to that of building with a tub of Legos; you grab a handful, piece them together in some manner of fashion, and by the end you have something completely unique to someone else at the table. Sure, you may have similar shape and color, but it is still uniquely you, and you can use what you've started on to build on more.
It may be difficult for some people to reach into that tub of Legos and start building, though. Some people may need instructions or guides to get them started. Lego sets always come with a guide on how to build what's inside. Why can't Persona building? Taking that approach, I looked to other contemporary games and decided on how to build certain archetypes of characters. (Admittedly, I started with a much, much longer list, but didn't want to overwhelm people further.) Inside, you will find some template guides for a Fighter, a Mage, a Ranger, a Healer, and a Support Persona. There are also four prewritten Personas based in Greek mythology; Odysseus, Hecate, Asclepius, and Perseus.
I also wanted to make things a bit easier for downloading and organization, so everything to date has been placed in a .zip folder. I personally find it easier to keep track of everything this way, but if others want separate downloads, I will more than happily accommodate.
